The Perdox Rant

Categories help organize the content on any website. They allow users to quickly find information relating to that category. This website also uses categories and currently has seven parent categories. Some of the parent categories have sub-categories. More about these later. There is an eighth one called ‘No Category’ and this is the default category that get’s assigned to your post if you forget to assign a category yourself. The following is some information to help you decide which category to assign to your post.

Category: Corporations

This is the parent category and has two sub-categories: Horror and Miraculous. Let’s say your post is about a problem you had with your electricity supplier. If you were happy with the way the supplier dealt with the problem, then assign the ‘Miraculous’ category to your post. If dealing with the supplier was a pain in the backside, then assign the ‘Horror’ category to your post.

Category: Government

This is the parent category and has two sub-categories: Astounding and Vexatious. Was your experience with a government department so good you just had to write about it? Then assign the ‘Astounding’ category to your post. If not, yes, you guessed it, assign the ‘Vexatious’ category. No, I am not going to tell you what vexatious means. Look it up!

Category: Humour

This parent category has three sub-categories: Jokes, Naughty and Visual. This is probably going to be the parent category that gets the most posts. And rightly so. We need some laughter in our lives, don’t you think?

If your post is a joke (i.e. written) then assign this category to your post. If your post consists of a funny picture or video, then assign the ‘Visual’ category. The ‘Naughty’ category gets all other humour that is too explicit to have showing on the site because minors might inadvertently view the content. This is the category that contains the posts that have the ‘this post is protected …‘  message. A password is required to view these posts. So if your post is of a very sensitive nature, assign this category to your post.

If your role is that of a ‘Contributor‘, you cannot upload any images to the site so the visual and naughty categories will not apply to you. Only Authors, Editors and Administrators have the rights to upload files. If you have a funny picture you think would be great for the site, contact us via the Contact > General page or send perdox an email with the picture as an attachment.

Category: No Category

As mentioned above, if you forget to assign a category to your post, the system will automatically assign it the ‘No Category’ category. Please try to remember to assign the correct category to your posts so that all users may benefit.

Category: Opinion

This is a parent category with NO subcategories (although some may be added in the future). This is an obvious one. If you have an opinion about politics, world events, fishing, hunting, human rights etc. then assign this category to your post.

Category: Products

This parent category has two sub-categories: Crap and Recommended. Purchased something you think others will benefit from? Purchased a dud? Let us know. Select the appropriate sub-category for your post.

Category: Sport

This is a parent category with no sub-categories. Any posts dealing with any issues in Sport should be assigned this category.

Category: Technology

This is a parent category with three sub-categories: Gadgets, Hardware and Software. I think these are very obvious so assign the appropriate one to your post.
